Walker's 115.5 mph double highlights night when young trio stars

Vaughn Grissom also homered and Michael Harris II had three hits as Atlanta beat the Miami Marlins 5-3 Tuesday night.

The Braves improved to 78-43, the best record in the majors. They moved 18 games ahead of the second-place New York Mets in the NL East and extended their lead over the Milwaukee Brewers to 8 1/2 games for the top wild-card spot.

Walker’s double was clocked at 115.5 mph, according to Statcast, the hardest-hit ball in the majors this season.

Marlins’ Edward Cabrera exits with right ankle sprain

Marlins starter Edward Cabrera left the game in the fourth inning because of a right ankle sprain and was scheduled for an MRI on Wednesday.

Cabrera came into the game with an 8-3 record and 2.51 ERA, but he struggled against the Braves, allowing five runs on seven hits over 3 1/3 innings.

The Marlins are now 46-73. They have lost 10 of their last 13 games.

The Braves’ offense is rolling

The Braves’ offense has been on fire lately, averaging 6.3 runs per game over their last 10 games.

In Tuesday night’s game, the Braves pounded out 11 hits, including three doubles and two home runs.

Grissom continued to impress, going 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, and two RBIs. He is now batting .400 with two home runs and eight RBIs in 11 games since being called up from Double-A Mississippi.

Harris also had a good night, going 3-for-5 with a double and two singles. He is now batting .320 with six home runs and 24 RBIs this season.

The Braves are now 28-13 at home this season. They will face the Marlins again on Wednesday night in the second game of a three-game series.
